Is a Signet Tank possible/worth it?
W/P [Symbolic Strike][Dolyak Signet][Signet of Strength][Signet of Aggression][For Great Justice][Healing Signet][Enraging Charge][Remedy Signet]
^^Just ideas-not a build yet^^
Can't figure out what Elite to try for it (if it even works good enough to use)
[Battle Rage] or [Auspicious Parry] maybe even [Dragon Slash]...but then it's just a different DS build right?
Just looking for ideas and advice here really, The idea came from looking at Auspicious Parry and Symbolic Strike and wondering if there was any way to have that become a decent defense/damage output tanking build.
Furious Sword of course \m/,,\m/
Your thoughts?

besides [dolyak signet] I dont see any other tanking skills. symbolic strike just isnt worth it Imho, requires too many signets which are otherwise entirely worthless so my advise is to not bother...
P.S [battle rage] and [dragon slash] are damage dealing elites, which wont go very well with your tanking theme at all.

Dolyak Sig and Sig of Stamina are imo the two must haves for a sig tank.

bah, symbolic strike is only halfways decent, and only if you use it with a scythe. +60 damage scythe attacks up to every attack ftw (I.E. with dark fury hitting 2+ foes)

Try using a dervish or ranger secondary for best signet usage. As above Symbolic strike with a Scythe rocks. Rangers have poison tip and antidote signets. At best you really can only fit 4 good signets for the build on the bar unless you bring sunspear rebirth or res signets. However, 4 strikes of adrenaline for 60 damage isn't a bad deal IMHO.

You got 6 skills slots to fill on from any second profession, gogo...

Too many signets IMO. SS is best used on a build that only has the signets you need and not packing as many as possible on to it.

You are all posting most of the same ideas/concerns that I had when I thought of this. I guess the only real reason why you would actually want to do a build like this is if you could somehow spam the hell outa [Symbolic Strike] The rest would be just enough signets to make it worth your time by cranking out around 60dmg from it or so. (kinda like DS)
Maybe a missing skill would be something that would give you the 4 adrenaline auto on hit/attack so you could do this?[Auspicious Parry] was the only real skill I could think of for a warrior to get this to work properly considering the whole thing revolves around a warrior attacking someone. They would obviously have to be attacking you, which gives you the defense and attack during that fight.
The more I look into this, the more it seems retarded to try it for PVP or PVE unless there is a real good way to guarantee the spam factor in there. Then you could throw in signets to remove conditions/hexes/deal AOE damage and other useful signet tools.

Just because you run symbolic strike doesn't mean you have load the entire bar with signets. Drop one or two...

[Balthazar's Spirit][Bane Signet][Dolyak Signet][Healing Signet][Symbolic Strike]
[For Great Justice][Auspicious Parry]
[email protected]=4adrenaline each hit
[email protected] (at least)
[email protected] (depends on runes)
Tactics@(whatever is leftover to use HS when needed)
#8 Skill [Great Dwarf Armor] / ["By Ural's Hammer!] / [Feel No Pain]
Furious Sword of course.
Some of the stats may need to be tweaked for best results
Still FAIL? or what are your thoughts?

You do know that balth gives u adrenaline WHEN YOU GET HIT not WHEN YOU HIT. Also it doesnt give strikes, it gives points. You need a tonne of hits to even get 1 STRIKE of adrenaline. In other words, use it only for the energy, not the adrenaline.

Alright, thought I’d give my comments on this thread. I have a soft spot for Symbolic Strike. Why? Because for only four strikes of adrenaline you can potentially deal more damage than an elite which costs more. In addition to that it is also potentially spammable at the low amount of adrenaline it does use. So I’ve always wanted to just attempt to see if a build around it could be achieved, therefore I think I will do just that right now. Here’s the build I made quickly without testing.
Warrior/Monk
Strength: 12 + 1 + 1
Tactics: 8
Healing Prayers: 8
[Frenzy][Auspicious Parry][Symbolic Strike][Dolyak Signet][Purge Signet][Mending][Sunspear Rebirth Signet]
8th slot is optional
I haven’t made this build in GW yet so there may be enough points left to bump Tactics or Healing Prayers up, go with Tactics if this is the case. Likewise there may be less, if this is the case try and get Tactics to 8 at the least and Healing Prayers to 3.
I considered using Enraging Charge but Frenzy was just far more useful in the end. Anyhow, here’s how the build works. Upon entering an area you cast Mending to give yourself +3 health regeneration. Run into a horde of enemies, auto attack an enemy and cast Dolyak Signet. One hit should charge your adrenaline to 1 point. Use Frenzy and then throw off Auspicious Parry. If timed right you will now have enough for Symbolic Strike, which will deal 36 damage in my build, plus whatever your normal melee would deal, which shouldn't be much. Now you just repeat this. Keep Frenzy up and use Auspicious Parry once it recharges. Because of how this build works you should constantly gain a decent amount of adrenaline, to the point where you may get off two Symbolic Strike’s simultaneously if it’s a tough fight.
If you get hexed or a condition is thrown on you then use Purge Signet. Unfortunately it costs 10 energy per hex/condition removed so you might want a secondary set for weapon/shield which add to your energy, and +energy runes.
Overall Symbolic Strike is fun to mess with but I’m not certain if this build would be any good. I constantly kept thinking that a general adrenaline build would be better because then I could drop Auspicious, Symbolic Strike and Purge Signet for four free slots which can be used for an adrenaline build. It can tank as is due to Dolyak Signet and Mending, so those two alone allow for this to be sub-par when soloing.

@wilhelm
What's the point of Frenzy in a tanking build? Unless you weren't trying to make a tanking build, in which case you seriously need to ditch Mending.

Is this a joke?
Oh and for purge signet you would want as little energy as possible.

Next time use [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] tags. Unless you are serious, in this case don't ever try to show someone a build and say it's good.

I never said it was good. I said this was the best I could come up with for Symbolic Strike. There's not a build out there that is good with it alone. You'd just be better off running a normal adrenaline build compared to it.
@Marty - It's to more quickly build up adrenaline. Mending is to partly counter-act the extra damage you receive (as well as Dolyak Signet). You could drop it if you want. It's just personal preference when it comes to adrenaline moves. Maybe Enraging Charge would be better.

There are better symbolic strike builds out there really. Symbolic can be pretty decent when made right. Just stick with signets that are actually somewhat decent when doing this.
W/R with
Dolyak sig
Antidote signet
Rez/Sunspear sig
maybe healing sig?
and use a decent elite.
This can make a decent bar but please don't expect this to perform as well as PRage or Shock Axe.
